Hedge Fun

By installing 70 feet of boxwood hedging, this Montclair backyard paradoxically appears larger. The dramatic border creates more intimate spaces for leisure and activity while blocking views of the driveway. Each of the two entrances are punctuated with larger Buxus and Liquidambar 'Slender Silhouette'. The hedge is rhythmically underplanted with a secondary border of ferns and seasonal emergents blooming from early spring to late summer. Variation in leaf color, texture, and flower bloom times creates a rich and dynamic edge between the stark contrasted driveway and lawn. All planting was “in-house” with comprehensive research of planting techniques and attentiveness to site conditions.
